Requirements vary by emirate, vehicle and circumstances and can change. Always follow the official authority's current instructions. This checklist is general guidance, not legal advice.

Before you complete the sale

  1. Confirm the seller is the registered owner (or holds a valid authorisation) and that their identity matches the registration.
  2. Arrange a technical inspection if the authority requires one for transfer.
  3. Make sure valid insurance will be in place for the new owner.
  4. Check for outstanding traffic fines and settle them as the authority requires.
  5. If the car is under finance or mortgage, obtain the lender's release / clearance before transfer.
  6. Complete the official sale and transfer through the authority's channel (online service, app or service centre).
  7. Pay the official fees through the authority's channel only.
  8. Agree what happens to the number plates and registration card.
  9. Hand over keys, documents and the car only after the transfer is confirmed.
SOUQAIR will never ask for your UAE Pass credentials, OTPs or card PINs. Do not hand over the car or pay before the official transfer is complete.
